Generating paint removal leads is a primary goal if you’re a contractor in any place in the world. Without them, you’re basically in the same position as not having clients at all. Lead generation for paint removal companies or contractors doesn’t need to be that difficult. Still, the possibilities of achieving success depend a lot on the strategies you integrate into your marketing plan and the whole idea for your business.
In the process of making your lead generation process a success, you also need to consider that it isn’t about generating leads only but also saving as many resources as possible by tracking your actions and setting statistics. It is only possible to know how well your lead generation strategies are doing by tracking your process.
With this in mind, marketing leads is a matter of time, effort, and taking the right steps. To make it a bit easier, we have decided to share some of the best strategies painting businesses, and contractors are relying on for more sales qualified leads.
Door-to-door Painting Business Marketing
If you are just starting up your business, door-to-door marketing is a great way to promote it.
We know it may seem intimidating or intrusive, and many people don’t do it. However, it is a great way to start your business.
This is a practice that many business owners aren’t willing to do. This is good news because it means you will get more chances to generate leads.
Another good thing about this kind of marketing is that its minimal costs. Aside from the cost of flyers and business cards, you don’t need to spend money on anything else.
It’s also very cost-effective and free because you can directly engage with your leads. This way, people get to know you better.
You can introduce yourself and your company to them and offer a free painting removal quote when someone answers the door. Make sure not to be pushy and be polite at all times.
Focus your attention on neighborhoods that belong to a “Home Owners Association.”Usually, houses need to be repainted every 8-10 years, and the chances are that someone has been thinking about repainting their home, and for it, removal is first.
Offer your services, and don’t forget to schedule a time to return if they agree to a free estimate. This will ensure that you get your first job.
Don’t be discouraged if most people say no to your proposal. A small percentage of those who open their door and listen to you will eventually say yes. This is because they might be able to keep your business in mind for the future.
Use Signs for The Yard
As soon as you’ve completed a few jobs, begin to market your business. Yard signs, also known as lawn signs, are one way to achieve this.
You just need to ask your clients if they would be willing to allow you to put a sign on their lawn if you are working in their house. This way, you will get a few weeks of advertising for free and only need to pay for the sign. It’s actually very simple and cost-efficient.
Make sure the sign is easy to read and include your company’s name as well as a telephone number. The work you do will speak for itself, and pedestrians may give you a call.
Partnerships with Local Businesses
Begin a partnership with companies in your area. Try contacting local moving companies, hardware stores, or homeware shops.
They might be interested in your services and will expect you do the same for them in return. Don’t forget to also reach out to realtors looking for painters.
This seems a bit shabby and out of context, but you can achieve great results by making sure you are connecting with the right businesses and partners.
Focus on Building Your Website
A website is a must to increase your business’s online visibility.
It should be custom-designed and effective to allow homeowners to find you when they see you on yard signs or van signs. This can also help them to learn more about you and your services.
A well-managed website will increase your leads and make you appear more professional.
Approximately 44% of total clicks for the search engine result pages are given to the local pack, which is the box at the top of Google search listing all local businesses.
So, you need to know that:
- Your website is your 24/7 sales representative. It makes it easy for customers to contact you and set up appointments.
- Nowadays, 97% of people search first for online local painting contractors.
- Your website allows leads to understand you better and see your past paint removal jobs. Take this chance to convert them into actual clients.
This only means that you must position yourself as an authority in the painting industry by doing things right with your website.
Your website must be available for mobile users. Most people search for paint contractors using their phones. It should also be user-friendly to rank high in search engine results.
To promote your website, you must focus on using Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
This will ensure that it is visible to the right people and increase your chances of getting your website noticed and ranked high on search engine results pages.
Try creating a section on your website to expose your previous works to make them even more appealing. Do this in order to convince people of your expertise and showcase your most stunning paint jobs.
You should also include testimonials from satisfied customers, a list of services, frequently asked queries, and a contact form.
Then, once your website is up and running, you can start sending people to it to learn more about your business.
Your website layout should be easy to use and professional. However, it should also appeal to users. You need to include an overview page, a contact page, and a photos gallery.
There should also be a section where past customers can leave reviews. This is actually very important because positive reviews will always attract more qualified leads for your business.
Finally, there should be a call to action.
Believe it or not, some people are afraid to call you directly and ask for an estimate. So, save them some time and create a form that users can fill out to receive a free estimate on a job.
Don’t lose communication and keep in touch with your clients. Include a subscription to your mailing lists so that they can continue receiving information about your company as well as possible discounts.
This will encourage leads to take the next steps towards doing business with your company.
Use Social Media Profiles
To increase your visits and generate more qualified leads, make sure to post frequently on your social media pages about your work. This helps leads to see the quality of your work. You can post before-and-after shots from your portfolio.
Last year, approximately 52% of consumers used apps like Facebook and Instagram to find painting businesses.
This is higher than Yelp or Google Reviews. Instagram is a great medium for visual content as it also allows you to show off your work in creative ways.
Make YouTube Videos
YouTube’s popularity and impact on society are growing by the second, which makes sense considering the rise in social media.
Nowadays, the average person spends more time online watching videos than in the past three years.
Visual stimuli can be used to promote your work and encourage people to get in touch with you if they are interested in having their house or company painted or remove the old colors.
So, take this chance and abuse it by creating videos that show your work to the world.
You can also create videos of preparations or show how your employees do their work. Behind the scenes, videos are also well received by the public.
Word of Mouth Is Strong
This is by far the best marketing method for any business simply because people trust the recommendations of their peers over social media ads or flyers.
Word-of-mouth marketing remains the best strategy up to this day. Once you have satisfied clients, they will surely come back to ask for your services.
Ask them to share their experiences with your company with their friends. A referral program is another option. Clients can earn a small commission by referring friends.
Their friends can also get a small discount to make it even more appealing. Of course, you must do this in moderation since you still need to make a healthy profit.
Truck Graphics Work Well
Any serious painting company will surely have a truck in order to do business.
A truck graphic with your company name and contact information on it can be a great way to engage people who pass you while you’re driving or doing your work.
A person in dire need of your services will see your company and be able to recall your name. This marketing strategy allows you to market while you work.
For instance, this lead generation strategy is similar to the lawn signs; the truck graphic should include company information, a catchy logo, and a memorable slogan to make sure you are putting your name out there.
This will ensure that anyone who sees your truck, no matter if they are driving or parked in the driveway, knows what services you provide and which number to dial for more information.
Rely on Flyers
Flyers are one of the oldest marketing methods out there but are still effective. They are similar to lawn signs and can be used to increase brand awareness in targeted areas.
They can be placed in areas with high foot traffic or in mailboxes to direct leads to your company.
Spring is the perfect time of the year to distribute them, when people start to think about painting their homes or when you are offering a special sale or discount.
Just as any other marketing method, flyers must have your company name and a contact number for customers to give you a call in case they need your painting services.
You should plan the layout and design of your flyers and consider the purpose of where they are being distributed.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Is Everything
Once you have a website, you need to improve your company’s visibility online.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a simple but effective way to increase your website’s chances of appearing on the first pages of Google searches.
Use relevant headings and popular keyword phrases. You can also use the geo-targeting features and options of Google Local Service Ads to help you target people within your local community.
These are just a few more ways to optimize your pages:
Meta Descriptions and Title Tags
The meta descriptions and title tags are simply the text that appears under the page’s content.
A great way to get people clicking on your site is to choose a creative and appealing title, along with a detailed description of the page.
Don’t forget to check that your text doesn’t exceed the Google character limit.
Alt-text
This refers to the text that appears on a webpage when a picture doesn’t load.
High-quality alt-text can also improve a website’s SEO. So, if you take the time to describe all photos on your website, your page’s visibility will increase dramatically.
Keywords
Relevant keywords are another great way to improve your website’s search results. Many free programs allow you to find out which keywords are showing up in search results.
These keywords can be used in headers or as content to improve your site’s SEO.
Remember that SEO is about creating content on a regular basis to ensure that your website does not become outdated.
Invest some time and properly manage your website content. If you don’t have the time, just put another person or employee in charge of doing it.
Landing Pages
If you want to take your SEO to the next level, try creating custom landing pages that appear as ads on Google search results.
A call-to-action slogan is a must-have for these landing pages to attract more leads efficiently.
They allow visitors to contact your company by either signing up for a mailing list or via a promo code.
Landing pages are very similar to flyers and signs. They must also convey all information in a short space to allow people to read it quickly.
You must provide something to people who visit your landing page. It is possible to make connections by inviting people to join a mailing list or downloading an eBook.
Last but not least, consider the layout of your landing pages. It is important to have a simple, clean layout that includes prominent text and many pictures.
Remember that this could be the first impression people make of your company.
Get Listed in Directories
Some people still like to use directories when looking for some companies and services. In this day and age, most of them use large internet directories.
Your business will look more professional and trustworthy if you meet the requirements for inclusion in these directories.
These directories can be used as a reference for leads or as a professional reference to help them find you. They can be easily found on Google and LinkedIn.
If your company is able to be listed in a painting directory, make sure you follow all their guidelines. Don’t forget to provide current information about your company, such as phone number, email address, and website URL.
Google My Business Optimization
This is an organizational free tool that Google offers in order to help businesses manage many aspects of their web presence.
It has three main purposes: managing your information, interacting with customers, and expanding your online presence.
- Manage your information: This tool will allow you to see the information that appears in Google searches for your business.
It includes your products, services, locations, and websites, as well as operating hours.
- Interact with customers online: Google My Business allows customers to post reviews about your business and also allows you to reply back to them.
This way, you keep in touch with your clientele and let them know that their opinion matters. These interactions are crucial because they build trust with your leads.
You can also upload photos of your work and location. This helps them to understand how you run your company and what you do.
- Expand your online presence: It helps you by giving statistics about how customers found you. It can also show you how they searched for you.
You can even go as far as to see where they live.
Once you have identified a certain number of users, you can then allocate more resources to marketing strategies that focus on converting those leads into actual clients.
Referral Program for More Sales Qualified Leads
Referrals can be a risky way to reach out to new customers. Many people say that they are not reliable.
However, if you make good use of this strategy, it can greatly boost your business’s lead generation process.
Focus your efforts on encouraging satisfied customers to spread your word by setting up an incentive referral program. Let them know that you will reward them if they refer other people.
What can you offer as a reward? It could be either a discount on their next painting job, free content such as a downloadable eBook, or even monetary compensation.
Be careful and do this in moderation since people can get carried away. This is a great way not only to expand your customer base but also to create loyal customers.
What We Think About It
It is crucial to understand your client’s thoughts in order to attract new leads. To make this possible, you should try to see your business through customers’ eyes.
For example, put yourself in their shoes and consider what you would expect to see on a website from a professional painting service.
When creating flyers, think of what images and discounts might catch your eye and about what you would type into Google to find keywords.
Now that you know all this, it is vital to invest enough time and put thought into every step of your marketing strategy.
It doesn’t really matter how good your company is a painting without convincing anyone.
Avoid annoying advertisements at all costs. They could have a negative effect on your company’s growth and lead your business in the wrong direction.
No matter what marketing method you choose to promote your painting company, it is important to present your company professionally and appropriately.
We hope that all these tools will help you build a loyal customer base who loves doing business with your company.
The Local Lead Generation Process for Your Paint Removal Business
All right! So, everything is about building properties and generating leads. But how does the process actually take place? Are there other steps I need to know?
The steps I mention below are what students from our local lead generation program follow to generate leads for businesses like yourself. So I’ll help you see what we do. And how if you join our program, you can simply generate leads for your own business (unless you want to start a side hustle and build a laptop lifestyle business).
Essentially, our lead generation can be divided into four steps:
The first is prospecting. You need to take the time to do market research on a niche (industry) and determine how many phone-driven businesses are there.
Keep in mind that this is local research as you need to know how many companies need leads. For example, you may search for “plumbing services Youngstown OH.”
You will find dozens or even hundreds of businesses trying to get themselves in front of the customers by ranking on Map Listings, organic results, and even Ad.
The second step, building. When you find a niche (plumbing, tree services, a software company, real estate…), you will need to start building your digital properties. You don’t need to be an expert in HTML or coding. It can be easy with the right tools.
The third step is now taking time to rank your lead gen website. With the site done, you need to work on SEO strategies and start dominating those Google search results. If you’re new to SEO, it stands for Search Engine Optimization.
To keep it simple, it consists of the entire process of growing a company’s visibility on search engines like Google and generating organic traffic. And remember this, local lead generation is part of the strategies.
Moving on to step four, once you rank the site, you will start getting your ROI and profits. You only need to rent it out to a local business interested in the leads the site generates. You can offer a couple of free leads to their move on with the actual pay per lead.
To review steps 1-4 above, I described it to a normal student who is building a lead gen business to help local service providers generate more calls. But replace the student with you as the business owner. And replace sending the leads to a business to simply siphoning the leads to your personal business.
By the way, fun fact, about 20% of our students in our local lead gen program are actually business owners who went through the program. And they use the skillsets we teach to generate leads for their own business.
An Example of Lead Generation: Home Advisor
You must be thinking, “if lead generation sounds so good so far, how come I haven’t seen any company?” That’s the thing; there are many out there. You just don’t know they are dedicated to it.
HomeAdvisor is one of the best examples you can find on the Internet as it is a top lead generation company that has spent millions building its brand but also earned even more zeros for this same reason.
They started small as everyone else but invested in building their brand awareness to make people who are looking for home services go to their website and find what they need. They are over 75% of people’s first choice when they need those services.
If you don’t get HomeAdvisor that much or need a refresh, users need to submit their information to request a service and get a professional or expert who can provide it.
HomeAdvisor’s job is to share your information, which makes you a lead, with local companies so they can contact you and offer the service you’re requesting. For sharing this lead information, HomeAdvisor gets paid by the companies. This happens for every single lead they send to multiple businesses.
Business owners who don’t have marketing skills or don’t even know how to have any online presence will always rely on those pages to list their services. They will save time and effort, but companies like HomeAdvisor can make them spend lots of money as leads aren’t exclusive (one lead is sent to multiple companies after all).
Using Facebook Ads aka Paid Ad Platforms: Do They Generate Leads?
They DO generate leads. If not, no one would use them.
However, you need to remember two facts:
- Paid ads or platforms can be expensive.
- They don’t generate “natural” leads.
Whenever someone sees or clicks in one of those ads, over 80% of them did it by accident or are trying to close/report it.
Why? Because they aren’t looking for those services. At least not at the moment.
What those ads do instead is interrupt their time on the platforms. Users aren’t there to find companies or businesses unless they are searching for a specific company’s user, and for that, there’s a search bar. This is why it is hard to convert them to actual customers who will show interest in the companies’ services. Also, you’re limited by a budget.
When using lead generation, everything is organic. You aren’t forcing others to pay attention to your business but rather being there when they need you. This is why Google’s organic traffic will always beat paid ads, and the reason companies continue investing in it, which is a lot cheaper as well.
What Is Local SEO?
Don’t worry… I didn’t get it at first either. Following the short explanation, local SEO focuses on scaling businesses’ visibility on search engines. However, this is only for those who serve their communities face-to-face.
What does this mean?
Experts and professionals like painters, plumbers, and dentists (but not only them) offer their services to their local customers. Why? Because they can’t deliver them unless they are located in the same area of their customers.
To make sure those businesses get more leads, you need to rank them locally by claiming the business listing on Google to place them on Map Listings. Local SEO also involves online reviews, citation management, and how you manage your entire online presence in the local area.
If you are going to bet on lead gen, you need to adapt yourself to today’s world: The Internet.
Keep in mind that although traditional channels and methods like billboards, warm calls, and pamphlets still work, they aren’t part of your tools. Whenever someone needs a service, they go to Google and search for it.
“Dentist in Miami” or “plumbing services in Orlando,” etc. And you can keep coming up with services or professionals people need and look for. Thus, you need to make sure you’re using Google to get the companies in front of their clients.
Users will always click on the first search results (those near the top), and many of them will be either Ad links (people paid to place their websites there), Map Listing, and then you get websites. Almost all of them are your goal and where you should always aim to place yourself.
Can My Pain Removal Business Utilize a Local Lead Generation Strategy?
If you want customers, you better know you need it. Following the previous explanation, lead gen is all about placing businesses in front of their customers, choosing them over their competitors.
Put it simply – it’s all about closing deals and having clients for those companies to make money. The main difference with the usual methods companies use for this is how lead generation approaches different channels to get them in the right place of the market to get customers.
Those channels are all focused on the Internet as most people are searching for products but also services across the net. The issue is that the Internet is way too broad, and businesses don’t know how to place themselves. They usually try, but they get one common result: losing money and time.
How Powerful Are Organic Paint Removal Leads from Google?
For companies looking for customers, it’s everything. For you? Pretty much the same. When you build a business with digital properties, you get to make thousands of dollars a month.
This isn’t a “get started today and get rich tomorrow” thing, but it is HIGHLY scalable, and ROI + positive results are guaranteed. Learning a fairly decent and very needed set of skills to create your digital properties and start ranking them on Google is required.
I have invested in several online businesses over the years, and if there’s something uncertain, whether you will get your ROI or not, even more than the actual profit.
However, this business moved my earnings from five figures a year to a month in ONLY passive income while sitting comfortably at home.
On my laptop. Anywhere. Anytime.
You can look at one of the first sites I built back in 2016, and it continues making me over $1.000+ every month. The best part is that I don’t need to touch it or the rest I’ve built over the years, just like this digital property.
What Makes Lead Generation SO Alluring?
Here it goes: you can work from home.
The main issue with regular business opportunities is how much you need to invest in staff, equipment, or rent to have a place to sell your products or offer your services.
We all know the hassles of traditional businesses that involve regular expenses, which are extremely high. Can you afford it? I don’t think so, and even if you can, is it worth it? Now, it isn’t only about the money. You also need to put in a lot of work, and it isn’t only during the first couple of months or years. Usually, it is as long as you continue running it.
You can save yourself those headaches and bone-breaking tasks and expenses with lead gen since it is more about generating leads with digital channels—mainly websites.
Websites can be VERY cheap to build, and with many tools online, you get to do it in a couple of hours instead of days. Any virtual or digital business is scalable and won’t need constant maintenance.
So, let’s summarize this:
- You save money in regular expenses with traditional and most online businesses as what you need is yourself and digital properties (websites).
- You can bet on passive income.
- There’s no need to hire more people to get started.
- You can generate leads in multiple industries, which allows you to work on any niche you want.
