Getting epoxy flooring leads is the biggest struggle contractors are facing in this industry. If you’re hitting the same wall, don’t feel too bad about it, as it takes companies in this niche several years before building a steady influx of clients.
Considering epoxy flooring isn’t a service everyone needs every day, it’s natural to face a challenge when being part of the industry. It isn’t as simple to connect with potential leads compared to other niches.
However, it isn’t impossible. It only requires the right approach in terms of using digital marketing as your main resource and channel, but without forgetting about traditional ones as they are perfect for local businesses like yours.
This article provides the top pieces of advice to help you get more work as an epoxy contractor. Lead generation is not complex if you use the right lead generation strategy and boost your progress depending on how your efforts evolve.
Before we jump to the actual step and recommendations, we suggest you take notes of the basics: not all lead generation strategies work for all companies. What does this mean? That what your friends in roofing systems are implementing may not work for yours as well.
Following a more accurate and closer example, some of your competitors will be implementing certain ones, but that doesn’t mean they will work for you as well.
Thus, dive into the ones we have for share as they won’t disappoint regardless if you are just starting or an epoxy flooring contractor with years in the industry.
You Must Utilize Facebook & Google Ads
Google Search Ads have been a great way to find new epoxy customers, and unlike what many believe, they’re quite cost-effective.
Some people who search on Google are likely interested in your services. Since they are already familiar with the market, you need to present yourself as the best professional for this option to work out.
Contractors may be scared by the high costs of advertising on Google, but as we have mentioned earlier, it can be affordable as long as you know how to approach it.
You just need to aim for the main yet most affordable keywords and ensure you’re striving for the best approach instead of just spending your budget in the entire process.
Also, it is vital to have a lead generation process after someone clicks on your advertisement. You should direct them to an attractive landing page and encourage them to contact you.
You can also run Facebook ads to get more leads.
Although advertising on Facebook can help raise brand awareness more than actual customers, Facebook users are more likely to have colder audiences than those searching on Google.
You can also read more to learn the differences between Facebook Ads and Google Search. Once you know how each works, it will be easy to tailor them to your target audience.
Shop Around for Customers That Need Epoxy Services
Epoxy flooring is always sought after by certain businesses and industries. These industries are typically high-skilled and require clean-up.
Attend trade shows to meet these companies, or place ads in industry magazines. These sectors are known for being extremely focused on what their customers need.
Once you identify your prospective leads, it will not be hard to convert them into sales. Talk to each of them because this will help you convert them into active clients as much as possible.
Make High-Quality Epoxy Flooring Videos
Shooting a video is relatively easy in the modern generation. You can use your smartphone to film your crew working on a few projects. Give background information to help prospects relate to the project.
Trust is one of the customers’ most difficult issues when dealing with contractors. Everybody has a story about a contractor who ran away and left a terrible job.
Make a video and upload it to YouTube to increase your credibility as a brand.
Video content indicates that you are a serious brand.
You don’t need to outsource a professional editor to put the video together. Even a simple Android phone can help you develop a high-quality sales video.
Always Perform the Best Work You Can
High-quality work should be obvious, but contractors often overlook this critical point. You can keep your customers happy and deliver high-quality work consistently, and thanks to it, you will get more businesses naturally.
Did you know that more than half of your work can come from referrals? Getting referrals means you don’t have to spend money advertising. People ask for your number, and they will give you a call.
Many contractors want to make a quick buck and then move on to the next lucrative project. It is one of the worst approaches if you are serious about generating high-quality leads.
You Want to Build & Have a Great Website
A website is one of the most important assets to have in order to improve your business’s online presence since it acts as your storefront and where most of your leads will land.
Thus, you should pay a close look at the design of your site. Remember, this gives potential customers access to your products and services.
Website visitors will want to:
- Find out more about your flooring company.
- Learn more about the services that you offer for epoxy flooring.
- Check out your service area and store location.
- Talk to you about possible flooring jobs.
How will potential customers find your business on Google without a website? They won’t.
No business should be without an epoxy flooring web design. It is the core of all flooring marketing campaigns, and when you don’t work on it, your competitors just get ahead of your business.
Start generating more leads and jobs by investing in web design and ensuring the site works properly.
Professional web designers will help you develop a highly functional site for your company, or you can use a web builder that is free yet enough until you’re able to invest more money in the process.
Canvassing the Region to Attract Leads
Although it might sound like a traditional marketing strategy, consumers will be more inclined to do business with companies that can put a face on them when they canvass an area for flooring leads. These are the top tips to help you get the most out of canvassing.
- Even if you don’t get the response you desire, be courteous.
- For each interaction, set a goal: make an appointment, get their contact info, or close a deal.
- So you are better prepared, have a script.
- After obtaining their information, follow up with potential customers.
- You should also make sure to have enough business cards on hand!
- To get leads for flooring, send direct mailers.
Remember to come along with several business cards to hand them over to potential customers. The challenge with most people is that they forget these lead generation tools during canvassing.
Send Direct Mails & Not Only Rely on the Online Option
Another flooring advertising strategy that has stood the test of time is direct mails. Old-fashioned mailboxes see a lot less activity than most email inboxes. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth your time.
It means that your postcard or letter about the services you offer is more likely to get read and seen. According to the famous Direct Marketing Association, direct mail costs an average of $51.40 per sales lead for a general mailing list and $54.10 for postcards.
To determine if direct mail is the right solution for you, compare it to the average leads cost from other sources. Getting the best lead management software will help you send direct mails successfully.
Pay-Per-Click & Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
One epoxy flooring advertising strategy that stands the test of time is a good PPC or SEM campaign. Google is the most famous search engine for these types of campaigns, and we even covered them for a bit with the mention of Google Ads.
However, Bing is still a popular choice, and you need to consider it during your strategies.
If you don’t agree with us so far because you’ve had a bad experience or you don’t think it is the best way to market your business, here are some facts and statistics that can support the reason behind our recommendation:
- Businesses make $2 on average for every $1 they spend in Google Ads.
- Around 41% of clicks on search results pages go to the top 3 paid ads.
- Over 85% of internet users use the Internet to find local companies.
- Visitors who visit your site via PPC/SEM are half as likely to purchase.
It sounds great, right? PPC is a cost-effective option that allows you to only pay for clicks, and you can set your budget as long as you know which keywords to target and work around its performance while tracking it.
Local SEO Services for Lead Generation
SEO (search engine optimization) is still the king of lead generation marketing and everything on the Internet to get your business in front of prospects. It is what will get your epoxy flooring business on the first page.
This SEO can be enough to generate most of your leads if your campaign is strong enough. However, the best results are achieved once you combine your efforts with other lead generation strategies we will be discussing and adding as well.
Setting up your Google My Business account is a good start. You can then move on to content marketing and backlinking.
It’s a brilliant idea to hire an SEO expert for epoxy flooring companies if you are unsure how to do it right or your efforts so far don’t seem to move the needle.
Get Flooring Leads through Strategic Alliances
Partnering with local suppliers is another intelligent way to generate leads for your company.
Lowe’s or Home Depot could be the main options, but it could also be a small business in your neighborhood.
There are high chances that they will recommend your company to their customers, and they’ll provide steady leads for epoxy flooring.
To ensure mutually beneficial partnerships, you will recommend them to your advertising partners to potential leads as well. It is a worthwhile strategy that is naturally a 50/50 when it comes to giving and getting.
Just make sure you aren’t trying to get too much and avoid giving to your partners. You want to maintain relationships and ensure they last for years or decades.
Work in Your Content Marketing Strategy
Content marketing is a fantastic strategy for your niche. You’ll notice everyone is using it for two reasons (mainly): they build reputation and trust as you provide valuable information, and because you get to rank for keywords naturally while following Google’s preferences.
Write blog posts or articles, publish them on your website, and allow your audience to share the content on social media. This strategy will be one of the best as long as you are working towards the right content that isn’t only for getting more sales only.
Here are some topic suggestions for content marketing:
- How to take care of your epoxy floor.
- Tips and tricks to choose the right flooring for your home.
- What you should look for in a good flooring contractor.
- Choose a material for your flooring project.
- Why epoxy is not easy to work with.
Get an attention-grabbing topic and use the right keywords and phrases to optimize the page.
Remember to Work with Email Marketing
An email marketing campaign will always be the best option when compared to the traditional mail we recommended earlier (but again, don’t neglect the latter).
It is one of the most popular forms of digital marketing for flooring businesses because it helps improve lead capture and scoring thanks to how often prospects check their email inboxes and connect with the messages you send.
Research shows that you’ll get a return of approximately $40 on every dollar you invest in email marketing.
Businesses that keep in touch via email with their ideal customers generate 50% more leads for epoxy flooring sales and spend 33% less on sales. It’s not hard to believe if you consider most people continue using email to connect when it comes to some serious businesses and services.
Generate New Flooring Leads at Trade Shows
Trade shows are a great place to start your search for clients if you know when and where to go since they offer many opportunities for lead generation and help contractors build their steady influx of clients.
In the process, they will allow you to observe your competitors, establish new business partnerships, and increase brand awareness among potential customers.
Make sure you offer something valuable to your customers at your trade shows. It could be a coupon, giveaway, or another incentive.
Ensure that you collect visitor information and follow up to close the sale. Don’t forget business cards to hand out!
Telemarketing Still Works in 2022
Most sales teams don’t know that telemarketing stills work even when most of it is used by companies selling specific products. But luckily, telemarketing can be used as a great channel since people continue watching TV despite using the Internet for most of their entertainment.
However, many people block unwanted calls. There are still companies that will telemarket to you and arrange appointments with potential customers.
It is a compelling opportunity to advertise your flooring products or services. However, you should evaluate the costs and benefits of this strategy before you commit to it, as it can end up being more expensive than others and less beneficial at that.
Use Ad Retargeting for Advertisement
Did you ever search for a product online and then see ads for it all over the Internet? This is retargeting, and you can do it for your business, just as we mentioned regular ads for it earlier.
Retargeting is a way to convert potential customers who visited your website but didn’t take any action, such as filling out forms or calling you.
As they surf the Internet, they’ll see your advertisement and remind themselves about your business and the services that you offer.
Clicking the ad will bring them back to your site, where they can have another chance at becoming a customer. For this, your website will play a crucial role, and take the time to go over the design and user-friendliness once more.
Retargeting will help you reach more potential customers (commercial or residential) and keep your business ahead of those who have visited your website.
Use a Unique Selling Point to Generate Leads
Your epoxy flooring business must have a unique selling point (or USP) to differentiate itself from others. This could be your service level, experience in the flooring business, competitive prices, reputation, stellar employees, or artistry guarantees.
Anything that makes your epoxy flooring company stand out from your competitors is good for lead generation.
After you have identified your USP, make sure to use it in your marketing materials. You can look at the flooring leads generated by your competitors if you don’t know where to start.
How can you match their USP? What is more important to your customers than the community you serve? These are just a few ideas to help you get started.
- Services specialized.
- Types of roofs.
- Service level.
What makes you different from your competitors? You can include all these elements in your flooring advertising.
Make YouTube Videos for Your Audience
YouTube is a top-rated platform. Why not make the most of it? Register for an account since it’s free and start posting videos about epoxy flooring, and you stand to benefit a lot in lead scoring.
You can use such videos to document your day, show the progress of a job, or highlight signs of water damage homeowners should be aware of each day.
The videos will help you build your reputation as a flooring expert.
They also make it easier for viewers to see that you are knowledgeable and build trust. Be keen to include your contact information in the description of your video so that they can find out more and get in touch with you.
Make Flooring Facebook & LinkedIn Groups
A dedicated Facebook page for your flooring company is essential. However, it is also a good idea to create a group page. You can post helpful content, such as your written content for content marketing.
Interact with other group members to build trust and brand awareness among your audience. Post the photos of your completed projects on this platform.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Make sure to take before and after photos for every flooring job.
Pictures provide an excellent way for you to showcase the quality of your work and give you great content to share on your website or social media.
You can also use the LinkedIn platform to attract commercial flooring leads.
Craigslist Is Worth It
One of the best places to find epoxy flooring leads is Craigslist.
Although Craigslist may seem outdated, many people still use it to find someone to do their flooring projects.
Look through the classifieds to see if anyone’s looking for a flooring contractor. Make sure to write down their names and phone numbers.
Then, get in touch with them for a consultation and discuss the project. People searching on Craigslist for flooring services are more likely to be available and willing to pay for your assistance.
Don’t Pay for Sales Qualified Leads Unless You Need to
HomeAdvisor and Angie’s List are two platforms that you need to consider carefully. Although they can provide many leads for your business, their quality is often not up to standard.
Therefore, you have to be very keen as you decide to buy leads. You want to attract quality leads that are easy to convert into paying customers whenever possible.
Many lead generation services, such as Angie’s List and HomeAdvisor, don’t deliver quality leads. It’s more likely to spend time hunting down bad flooring leads than talking to the good ones.
Instead of spending money on poor ones, invest in organic strategies, and paid ones that you know are worth your money and time.
While flooring web design is not the only aspect of a successful lead generation campaign, it is most important. It is a great thing to ensure your website generates leads by using the regular steps:
- Buy your domain.
- Set your hosting.
- Start your design.
- Focus on user experience.
- Make it easy and friendly.
You can increase your possibilities of bringing in more leads by adding other elements to your marketing campaigns, such as reputation monitoring or tracking all your efforts.
The Local Lead Generation Process for Your Epoxy Flooring Business
All right! So, everything is about building properties and generating leads. But how does the process actually take place? Are there other steps I need to know?
The steps I mention below are what students from our local lead generation program follow to generate leads for businesses like yourself. So I’ll help you see what we do. And how if you join our program, you can simply generate leads for your own business (unless you want to start a side hustle and build a laptop lifestyle business).
Essentially, our lead generation can be divided into four steps:
The first is prospecting. You need to take the time to do market research on a niche (industry) and determine how many phone-driven businesses are there.
Keep in mind that this is local research as you need to know how many companies need leads. For example, you may search for “plumbing services Youngstown OH.”
You will find dozens or even hundreds of businesses trying to get themselves in front of the customers by ranking on Map Listings, organic results, and even Ad.
The second step, building. When you find a niche (plumbing, tree services, a software company, real estate…), you will need to start building your digital properties. You don’t need to be an expert in HTML or coding. It can be easy with the right tools.
The third step is now taking time to rank your lead gen website. With the site done, you need to work on SEO strategies and start dominating those Google search results. If you’re new to SEO, it stands for Search Engine Optimization.
To keep it simple, it consists of the entire process of growing a company’s visibility on search engines like Google and generating organic traffic. And remember this, local lead generation is part of the strategies.
Moving on to step four, once you rank the site, you will start getting your ROI and profits. You only need to rent it out to a local business interested in the leads the site generates. You can offer a couple of free leads to their move on with the actual pay per lead.
To review steps 1-4 above, I described it to a normal student who is building a lead gen business to help local service providers generate more calls. But replace the student with you as the business owner. And replace sending the leads to a business to simply siphoning the leads to your personal business.
By the way, fun fact, about 20% of our students in our local lead gen program are actually business owners who went through the program. And they use the skillsets we teach to generate leads for their own business.
An Example of Lead Generation: Home Advisor
You must be thinking, “if lead generation sounds so good so far, how come I haven’t seen any company?” That’s the thing; there are many out there. You just don’t know they are dedicated to it.
HomeAdvisor is one of the best examples you can find on the Internet as it is a top lead generation company that has spent millions building its brand but also earned even more zeros for this same reason.
They started small as everyone else but invested in building their brand awareness to make people who are looking for home services go to their website and find what they need. They are over 75% of people’s first choice when they need those services.
If you don’t get HomeAdvisor that much or need a refresh, users need to submit their information to request a service and get a professional or expert who can provide it.
HomeAdvisor’s job is to share your information, which makes you a lead, with local companies so they can contact you and offer the service you’re requesting. For sharing this lead information, HomeAdvisor gets paid by the companies. This happens for every single lead they send to multiple businesses.
Business owners who don’t have marketing skills or don’t even know how to have any online presence will always rely on those pages to list their services. They will save time and effort, but companies like HomeAdvisor can make them spend lots of money as leads aren’t exclusive (one lead is sent to multiple companies after all).
Using Facebook Ads aka Paid Ad Platforms: Do They Generate Leads?
They DO generate leads. If not, no one would use them.
However, you need to remember two facts:
- Paid ads or platforms can be expensive.
- They don’t generate “natural” leads.
Whenever someone sees or clicks in one of those ads, over 80% of them did it by accident or are trying to close/report it.
Why? Because they aren’t looking for those services. At least not at the moment.
What those ads do instead is interrupt their time on the platforms. Users aren’t there to find companies or businesses unless they are searching for a specific company’s user, and for that, there’s a search bar. This is why it is hard to convert them to actual customers who will show interest in the companies’ services. Also, you’re limited by a budget.
When using lead generation, everything is organic. You aren’t forcing others to pay attention to your business but rather being there when they need you. This is why Google’s organic traffic will always beat paid ads, and the reason companies continue investing in it, which is a lot cheaper as well.
What Is Local SEO?
Don’t worry… I didn’t get it at first either. Following the short explanation, local SEO focuses on scaling businesses’ visibility on search engines. However, this is only for those who serve their communities face-to-face.
What does this mean?
Experts and professionals like painters, plumbers, and dentists (but not only them) offer their services to their local customers. Why? Because they can’t deliver them unless they are located in the same area of their customers.
To make sure those businesses get more leads, you need to rank them locally by claiming the business listing on Google to place them on Map Listings. Local SEO also involves online reviews, citation management, and how you manage your entire online presence in the local area.
If you are going to bet on lead gen, you need to adapt yourself to today’s world: The Internet.
Keep in mind that although traditional channels and methods like billboards, warm calls, and pamphlets still work, they aren’t part of your tools. Whenever someone needs a service, they go to Google and search for it.
“Dentist in Miami” or “plumbing services in Orlando,” etc. And you can keep coming up with services or professionals people need and look for. Thus, you need to make sure you’re using Google to get the companies in front of their clients.
Users will always click on the first search results (those near the top), and many of them will be either Ad links (people paid to place their websites there), Map Listing, and then you get websites. Almost all of them are your goal and where you should always aim to place yourself.
Can My Epoxy Flooring Business Utilize a Local Lead Generation Strategy?
If you want customers, you better know you need it. Following the previous explanation, lead gen is all about placing businesses in front of their customers, choosing them over their competitors.
Put it simply – it’s all about closing deals and having clients for those companies to make money. The main difference with the usual methods companies use for this is how lead generation approaches different channels to get them in the right place of the market to get customers.
Those channels are all focused on the Internet as most people are searching for products but also services across the net. The issue is that the Internet is way too broad, and businesses don’t know how to place themselves. They usually try, but they get one common result: losing money and time.
How Powerful Are Organic Epoxy Flooring Leads from Google?
For companies looking for customers, it’s everything. For you? Pretty much the same. When you build a business with digital properties, you get to make thousands of dollars a month.
This isn’t a “get started today and get rich tomorrow” thing, but it is HIGHLY scalable, and ROI + positive results are guaranteed. Learning a fairly decent and very needed set of skills to create your digital properties and start ranking them on Google is required.
I have invested in several online businesses over the years, and if there’s something uncertain, whether you will get your ROI or not, even more than the actual profit.
However, this business moved my earnings from five figures a year to a month in ONLY passive income while sitting comfortably at home.
On my laptop. Anywhere. Anytime.
You can look at one of the first sites I built back in 2016, and it continues making me over $1.000+ every month. The best part is that I don’t need to touch it or the rest I’ve built over the years, just like this digital property.
What Makes Lead Generation SO Alluring?
Here it goes: you can work from home.
The main issue with regular business opportunities is how much you need to invest in staff, equipment, or rent to have a place to sell your products or offer your services.
We all know the hassles of traditional businesses that involve regular expenses, which are extremely high. Can you afford it? I don’t think so, and even if you can, is it worth it? Now, it isn’t only about the money. You also need to put in a lot of work, and it isn’t only during the first couple of months or years. Usually, it is as long as you continue running it.
You can save yourself those headaches and bone-breaking tasks and expenses with lead gen since it is more about generating leads with digital channels—mainly websites.
Websites can be VERY cheap to build, and with many tools online, you get to do it in a couple of hours instead of days. Any virtual or digital business is scalable and won’t need constant maintenance.
So, let’s summarize this:
- You save money in regular expenses with traditional and most online businesses as what you need is yourself and digital properties (websites).
- You can bet on passive income.
- There’s no need to hire more people to get started.
- You can generate leads in multiple industries, which allows you to work on any niche you want.
