Junk removal leads are becoming a complete challenge for companies today. Despite so many people needing the services, there is a monopoly in the industry.
It is crucial for businesses dedicated to junk removal to remain updated with the latest lead generation strategy and trends. For it, more than an hour of research is required.
This won’t guarantee that you are entirely knowledgeable in how to generate more sales-qualified leads. However, it will help to understand the basic concepts in marketing and work towards improvement in your plans.
You will be overwhelmed with the amount of information. This is why we decided it would be better for us to do the job.
Below, you will find enough lead generation strategies and advice to move forward with your junk removal business.
Just remember to take the time to review the details properly to guarantee your lead generation process and its success.
Be Known for Something (Stand Out)
This is the most important piece of advice we can offer. Differentiation is the most important thing you can do in a competitive market full of “guys with trucks” companies.
Your goal is to be remembered by people who need your services. By being “top-of-mind” for junk removal, you want to generate word-of-mouth recommendations.
You can take some competitors as examples to have a better idea of how you can be different. In this case, we will take Junk4Good.
This company has an easy-to-remember name that serves to remind leads that they are a nonprofit company that donates funds to create jobs in their community.
Keep in mind this is only an example. Your call card doesn’t have to be related to charity or be similar to the previous company.
Find a differentiator that is either new among junk removal businesses and companies in your area. You can also bet for one that already exists but adjust it to the image of your company.
Something as simple as painting your trucks in a bright color or adding a slogan that catches people’s attention can be more than enough.
Your junk removal company will be more distinguished if you have a bit of branding.
Utilize Google Ads
You may be thinking, “Google Ads don’t look like a good idea to me.”
Google ads are an option for exclusive junk removal leads that is low-budget and won’t require much effort. However, it can sometimes not produce results or be very expensive for those who don’t understand how it truly works.
What’s the truth behind this? You can run Google ads well and get your money back every month with a small budget.
Google ads can be run with a budget as low as a few hundred dollars. The search engine favors companies with larger budgets. But it is not impossible to make a profit with lower ones.
One of the key parts to guarantee this strategy actually works can be to train yourself or let a professional handle it.
For us, Google ads should be managed by professionals who have more than a few minutes of experience in the field.
Even If you don’t have enough money to employ a professional, you can set the campaigns on your own and find someone later.
A freelancer or small company, yet professional, can be another solution. Both of them are affordable and can be financed by most junk removal companies.
Google ads are a successful long-term strategy. This is the best way to ensure your junk removal business gets the most leads from search engines.
Long-term thinking is key. That’s why you need to look at Google ads spending in the future. You should start with a small budget and work your way up.
Google ads are used by the largest junk removal companies in your area. Do not compare yourself with a franchise, but rather to the biggest junk removal company in your city.
Take a look at their work and add your own spin to it. Follow their lead to learn how they did it. That’s how you can beat them in their own game.
Work on Reviews
Earning more reviews is key. This is what everyone believes, and they’re right.
When done properly, reviews can have serious SEO implications. They establish credibility and reliability as well as have a significant impact on SEO factors.
A typical consumer believes that a business with more than 45 reviews is more trustworthy than one with less than 45 reviews.
You can use reputation management software to send automated texts once you have completed a job to get more reviews from clients.
Next, create a template text or email message asking for a review after the job is completed. This means that you should ask for a review if your crew leaves the job site within 15 minutes.
It is important to include the review link in your email and text message. Customers will not be able to find your business online and leave reviews without a review link.
On the other hand, they won’t leave reviews if you ask them for one on your Google page. They will give you a review if you don’t make it difficult for them to do so.
Email Is Always Booming
Junk removal companies can make a steady income from their commercial side. A great strategy to grow this part of your company can be a turning point.
Many junk removal business owners are trying to figure out how to expand this aspect of their service. After all, the residential side of junk removal is different from the commercial.
It is easy to place flyers and run ads on the residential side of junk removal. This can help you turn a profit. It is difficult to partner with a realtor, property manager, or another commercial operator for their junk-signing businesses.
Email blasts are a great way for you to get more commercial business. While normal junk removal is a B2C service, growing your commercial side of the business is more B2B.
B2B requires a completely different strategy. The sales process is more complicated, longer, and more involved. It makes sense that the residential side of the business isn’t going to grow as quickly as the commercial.
What can you do to make this happen? We suggest that you do more outreach. Reach out to commercial operators by sending out cold emails.
It is important to create an email template that includes a follow-up sequence. This template can be sent to as many Realtors and property managers as possible.
Some free and paid software options are available to automate your efforts. You can set the email to be sent, and the program will do everything for you.
Others like MailChimp can help with newsletter delivery every week or month.
Get a Well-Designed Junk Removal Website
It is important to make sure your website serves two main purposes:
- Attract potential customers.
- Turn your website visitors into qualified leads your sales team can take care of.
For it, a website will be the landing point for any visitor and prospect in junk removal. Thus, it requires a clean design + proper optimization.
SEO (search engine optimization) plays a critical role in your company’s success. It is often a confusing term that is misunderstood and oversimplified.
Online strategies will improve the ranking of your website for thousands of keywords consumers use to search for information, services, and products.
Traffic is essential, but qualified leads must be converted from at least 3% of website visitors.
However, this is not the case for all junk removal companies. If you’re having the same problem, it could indicate that your user experience, images, and copywriting are in serious trouble.
These aspects are crucial in order to increase your website’s organic traffic, and junk removal leads.
Here’s a question that everyone would ask: “How can you generate or bring more organic traffic to a website?” Here are some suggestions:
- It is crucial to invest a lot of or enough time when building a website. It doesn’t matter what professionals or yourself say about how fast you can get it done. It is important to ensure that it is optimized and contains all necessary elements.
- If you create long-form, useful content on your blog over time, you can rank for hundreds of search terms. It takes expertise to create great strategies and exceptional content.
- Google My Business allows you to create online directories and social media profiles. It is important to ensure consistency in your company name, address, phone number, and website.
- High-quality, professional images, and well-written content are key. These tasks can be outsourced to professionals, but it is best to stick with what you are good at.
- Every page on your website should be inviting visitors to take action. Visitors should find it easy to conduct their research and obtain a quote.
On Your Website, Pay Attention to Landing Pages
Landing pages are key to website lead generation. This means they will also help you to attract more customers to your junk removal business.
You can use some landing pages for informational purposes only. However, others can cover more needs and goals.
With the right information on your landing page, visitors should be encouraged to make a decision about hiring or not your services.
This is possible by creating a landing page that converts. It should be optimized for a better user experience and contain conversion-focused elements.
These are our tips for helping you achieve this result:
- To avoid visitors leaving, you should remove anything that doesn’t help you convert web traffic to leads.
- Describe the service you provide and why it is beneficial to your customers.
- It is crucial to clearly define what happens to visitors when they click on an element.
- It is important to know exactly where they should click.
- You can reduce clicks. You should allow them to only click three times to reach the destination from your homepage.
Advertise on Local Radio Stations
Radio is a medium that connects thousands every day. Radio listeners who commute to work often consider local radio personalities their friends.
When one of these personalities mentions a service or company, listeners would be willing to give it a try.
Radio ads and endorsements are often forgotten. However, they have the power to build a brand.
Reach out to local radio stations to inquire about airing your junk removal company. While this strategy may seem old for some, it is still very effective for services such as yours.
Just remember you should (or will have to) invest some of your budget in it. This will allow you to generate leads and increase your ROI.
Fortunately, it isn’t too expensive to invest in local radio ads to obtain high-quality leads.
Online & Offline Reputation Must Be Managed
Did you know that 85% percent of people always use the internet but offline sources as well to learn about a company?
They also look into your reputation and what customers have to say about you, your pricing, and your work.
Can you show up on time and complete the task that you promised? Are you able to meet their expectations? How about providing the service they require?
They will look at reviews and assess your reputation to find the answers to these questions. As scary as this sounds, it can be used to your advantage, thanks to word-of-mouth marketing.
Word-of-mouth can also be used offline, not only online.
Ask satisfied customers for recommendations to friends, family, neighbors, and acquaintances who might be interested in your services. Boost their confidence for referrals using the reputation you’ve built.
A key to getting the reviews from them is to hand them lots of business cards once you’ve completed the service.
Listing your junk removal services online on review sites is a great way to get satisfied customers to leave their experiences. This will increase your chances of bringing in more sales-qualified leads.
Put Effort into Looking Good
You need to play your role and look good to attract more junk removal leads.
What does looking good mean in this situation? You need to pay attention to some factors:
- A professional website.
Although we already mentioned it, no one will get hurt for doing it again. Make sure your website is clean and has a visible phone number so potential customers can book your services.
In other cases, your buttons can invite them to request a quote or take other actions.
- Have proper etiquette over the phone.
This includes a fast response time, answering calls promptly, and creating a professional-sounding script that guides potential customers to book an appointment or a free estimate.
- Maintain your trucks clean and functional.
This is the most important visual that customers have of your company. Not because it is a junk trunk means you don’t need to invest time in cleaning it.
Also, your company name, website, and phone should be visible on trucks.
- Uniformed employees.
To give customers a professional and positive impression of your company, technicians should be dressed in company uniforms.
- Education and knowledge.
Junk hauling can be a lucrative business, but it is not a quick win. This means that you must continue to invest in your education and industry expertise.
You can do this by working with other experienced companies in the niche or watching YouTube videos. It doesn’t have to be something too elaborated as long as it is constructive.
Advertise Your Junk Removal Business
You will need to use all or some of these platforms to help promote your junk removal company.
Local businesses usually utilize them due to the audience they can reach. Usually, the results are optimal and worth the effort.
Although there are several platforms, you can focus on those as the main ones.
It really does depend on where you are located. The platform is very popular in California. It’s not as popular in North Carolina.
Although Yelp doesn’t charge a fee to help you find jobs, you will be able to rank higher in their rankings if you pay a fee for it.
- Home Advisor.
One of the best options to generate more junk removal leads is to get started right away with Home Advisor.
You’ll be able to book jobs as soon as you can jump on phone calls and communicate with prospects.
Junk removal companies (as well other low-cost businesses to start) often list their services on Craigslist.
You can list your service for free, but it attracts price-sensitive customers. So be aware of this when you speak to prospects.
Your Junk Removal Company Needs the Right People
Junk hauling is a lucrative business. However, it’s not possible to make millions per year if you do all the junk removal work yourself.
It is essential that you are able to find qualified workers who can load and quote junk. When done, you must encourage everyone to become a leader in your company.
It is crucial to use systems. You must realize that you cannot do it alone. Also, you must accept that mistakes are bound to happen.
Fix them and make the customer happy. Determine what went wrong with the team member and immediately take corrective action.
Micromanaging because you worry that people making mistakes will slow down your progress. These will happen, but you’ll have to deal with them as they arise.
Now, how can you recruit the right people for your business?
- Call the applicant immediately after a resume is received.
- Inform the applicant that the first interview is via phone.
- If the call is successful and they are available for work during the hours, they say they can, and if they sound decent and have reliable transportation, invite them to meet the general manager.
- If all goes well, they will be offered a job on the spot.
Bad employees are less likely to show up for an interview in person or quit within days.
You just need to be fast in hiring people if you don’t want others taking them from you.
It Can Be Simple to Generate Leads
It’s not easy to generate qualified leads. However, it doesn’t have to be more difficult than it actually is if you use the right strategies.
Besides, it is all about patience, perseverance, and hard work.
Once you have completed all the strategies above and worked towards a better plan for your company, everything will get much better.
Overall, we recommend integrating all the previous strategies at the speed of your availability. Also, based on how simple it is or if you decide to hire experts for the job.
If you truly want this business of yours to work out, remember that time is gold. Although you might see it as a waste of money, hiring someone to lend you a hand with the lead generation process can be game-changing.
You already know this information, so we don’t think we need to share it.
But we just wanted to make sure you aren’t missing this process’s simple yet essential parts.
Finally, remember that even companies with years of experience can reach a point in which they are not competitive.
They lose their leads and are unable to bring more in regardless of what they do. It doesn’t matter, sometimes, if they are putting in all the effort. If they aren’t following the crucial parts, everything is doomed.
Take the time to review each strategy above as many times as necessary. We shared them for a reason, and you can just go over them when needed.
Also, remember to work towards your success in generating qualified leads. Don’t forget to focus on your offline lead generation efforts but also online ones.
In our experience, things always get better when you take the time to understand everything and then move with the plan.
Final advice: Don’t be too eager to spend more on paid lead generation strategies. Don’t buy ANY lead lists either.
The Local Lead Generation Process for Your Junk Removal Business
All right! So, everything is about building properties and generating leads. But how does the process actually take place? Are there other steps I need to know?
The steps I mention below are what students from our local lead generation program follow to generate leads for businesses like yourself. So I’ll help you see what we do. And how if you join our program, you can simply generate leads for your own business (unless you want to start a side hustle and build a laptop lifestyle business).
Essentially, our lead generation can be divided into four steps:
The first is prospecting. You need to take the time to do market research on a niche (industry) and determine how many phone-driven businesses are there.
Keep in mind that this is local research as you need to know how many companies need leads. For example, you may search for “plumbing services Youngstown OH.”
You will find dozens or even hundreds of businesses trying to get themselves in front of the customers by ranking on Map Listings, organic results, and even Ad.
The second step, building. When you find a niche (plumbing, tree services, a software company, real estate…), you will need to start building your digital properties. You don’t need to be an expert in HTML or coding. It can be easy with the right tools.
The third step is now taking time to rank your lead gen website. With the site done, you need to work on SEO strategies and start dominating those Google search results. If you’re new to SEO, it stands for Search Engine Optimization.
To keep it simple, it consists of the entire process of growing a company’s visibility on search engines like Google and generating organic traffic. And remember this, local lead generation is part of the strategies.
Moving on to step four, once you rank the site, you will start getting your ROI and profits. You only need to rent it out to a local business interested in the leads the site generates. You can offer a couple of free leads to their move on with the actual pay per lead.
To review steps 1-4 above, I described it to a normal student who is building a lead gen business to help local service providers generate more calls. But replace the student with you as the business owner. And replace sending the leads to a business to simply siphoning the leads to your personal business.
By the way, fun fact, about 20% of our students in our local lead gen program are actually business owners who went through the program. And they use the skillsets we teach to generate leads for their own business.
An Example of Lead Generation: Home Advisor
You must be thinking, “if lead generation sounds so good so far, how come I haven’t seen any company?” That’s the thing; there are many out there. You just don’t know they are dedicated to it.
HomeAdvisor is one of the best examples you can find on the Internet as it is a top lead generation company that has spent millions building its brand but also earned even more zeros for this same reason.
They started small as everyone else but invested in building their brand awareness to make people who are looking for home services go to their website and find what they need. They are over 75% of people’s first choice when they need those services.
If you don’t get HomeAdvisor that much or need a refresh, users need to submit their information to request a service and get a professional or expert who can provide it.
HomeAdvisor’s job is to share your information, which makes you a lead, with local companies so they can contact you and offer the service you’re requesting. For sharing this lead information, HomeAdvisor gets paid by the companies. This happens for every single lead they send to multiple businesses.
Business owners who don’t have marketing skills or don’t even know how to have any online presence will always rely on those pages to list their services. They will save time and effort, but companies like HomeAdvisor can make them spend lots of money as leads aren’t exclusive (one lead is sent to multiple companies after all).
Using Facebook Ads aka Paid Ad Platforms: Do They Generate Leads?
They DO generate leads. If not, no one would use them.
However, you need to remember two facts:
- Paid ads or platforms can be expensive.
- They don’t generate “natural” leads.
Whenever someone sees or clicks in one of those ads, over 80% of them did it by accident or are trying to close/report it.
Why? Because they aren’t looking for those services. At least not at the moment.
What those ads do instead is interrupt their time on the platforms. Users aren’t there to find companies or businesses unless they are searching for a specific company’s user, and for that, there’s a search bar. This is why it is hard to convert them to actual customers who will show interest in the companies’ services. Also, you’re limited by a budget.
When using lead generation, everything is organic. You aren’t forcing others to pay attention to your business but rather being there when they need you. This is why Google’s organic traffic will always beat paid ads, and the reason companies continue investing in it, which is a lot cheaper as well.
What Is Local SEO?
Don’t worry… I didn’t get it at first either. Following the short explanation, local SEO focuses on scaling businesses’ visibility on search engines. However, this is only for those who serve their communities face-to-face.
What does this mean?
Experts and professionals like painters, plumbers, and dentists (but not only them) offer their services to their local customers. Why? Because they can’t deliver them unless they are located in the same area of their customers.
To make sure those businesses get more leads, you need to rank them locally by claiming the business listing on Google to place them on Map Listings. Local SEO also involves online reviews, citation management, and how you manage your entire online presence in the local area.
If you are going to bet on lead gen, you need to adapt yourself to today’s world: The Internet.
Keep in mind that although traditional channels and methods like billboards, warm calls, and pamphlets still work, they aren’t part of your tools. Whenever someone needs a service, they go to Google and search for it.
“Dentist in Miami” or “plumbing services in Orlando,” etc. And you can keep coming up with services or professionals people need and look for. Thus, you need to make sure you’re using Google to get the companies in front of their clients.
Users will always click on the first search results (those near the top), and many of them will be either Ad links (people paid to place their websites there), Map Listing, and then you get websites. Almost all of them are your goal and where you should always aim to place yourself.
Can My Junk Removal Business Utilize a Local Lead Generation Strategy?
If you want customers, you better know you need it. Following the previous explanation, lead gen is all about placing businesses in front of their customers, choosing them over their competitors.
Put it simply – it’s all about closing deals and having clients for those companies to make money. The main difference with the usual methods companies use for this is how lead generation approaches different channels to get them in the right place of the market to get customers.
Those channels are all focused on the Internet as most people are searching for products but also services across the net. The issue is that the Internet is way too broad, and businesses don’t know how to place themselves. They usually try, but they get one common result: losing money and time.
How Powerful Are Organic Junk Removal Leads from Google?
For companies looking for customers, it’s everything. For you? Pretty much the same. When you build a business with digital properties, you get to make thousands of dollars a month.
This isn’t a “get started today and get rich tomorrow” thing, but it is HIGHLY scalable, and ROI + positive results are guaranteed. Learning a fairly decent and very needed set of skills to create your digital properties and start ranking them on Google is required.
I have invested in several online businesses over the years, and if there’s something uncertain, whether you will get your ROI or not, even more than the actual profit.
However, this business moved my earnings from five figures a year to a month in ONLY passive income while sitting comfortably at home.
On my laptop. Anywhere. Anytime.
You can look at one of the first sites I built back in 2016, and it continues making me over $1.000+ every month. The best part is that I don’t need to touch it or the rest I’ve built over the years, just like this digital property.
What Makes Lead Generation SO Alluring?
Here it goes: you can work from home.
The main issue with regular business opportunities is how much you need to invest in staff, equipment, or rent to have a place to sell your products or offer your services.
We all know the hassles of traditional businesses that involve regular expenses, which are extremely high. Can you afford it? I don’t think so, and even if you can, is it worth it? Now, it isn’t only about the money. You also need to put in a lot of work, and it isn’t only during the first couple of months or years. Usually, it is as long as you continue running it.
You can save yourself those headaches and bone-breaking tasks and expenses with lead gen since it is more about generating leads with digital channels—mainly websites.
Websites can be VERY cheap to build, and with many tools online, you get to do it in a couple of hours instead of days. Any virtual or digital business is scalable and won’t need constant maintenance.
So, let’s summarize this:
- You save money in regular expenses with traditional and most online businesses as what you need is yourself and digital properties (websites).
- You can bet on passive income.
- There’s no need to hire more people to get started.
- You can generate leads in multiple industries, which allows you to work on any niche you want.
